I Needed to Create My Own Battery Monitor

April 27, 2026 My Linux Mint setup stopped warning me about low battery. A few weeks ago, my PC just shut down in front of me because the battery drained completely. I searched for a way to re-enable the native warning, but couldn't find a solution. If you're on Linux Mint or facing the same issue with your distro, here's what I did: I created a simple cron job that runs every minute, checks the battery level, and sends a notification with sound when it gets low.
