I Needed to Create My Own Battery Monitor

April 27, 2026 My Linux Mint setup stopped warning me about low battery. A few weeks ago, my PC just shut down in front of me because the battery drained completely. I searched for a way to re-enable the native warning, but couldn't find a solution. If you're on Linux Mint or facing the same issue with your distro, here's what I did: I created a simple cron job that runs every minute, checks the battery level, and sends a notification with sound when it gets low. No overcomplicated setup, just something that works. The script is available on GitHub. If your OS is missing battery warnings too, feel free to use it or adapt it to your needs.
